First Steps on my Journey
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I was meant to touch peoples’ lives in some way. From the time I was five, I was writing short stories and poetry. Never shy, (I’m an Aries, after all,) I use to share these stories with family, friends and classmates, and dreamed of the day when I would be a professional writer. As time passed, I considered other careers in which I could assist others such as music, theatre and even law. I was an extremely creative child, always creating my own little fantasy world filled with princesses, witches, enchanting castles and a dashing Prince Charming. I also had several “imaginary friends,” my favorite of whom was named Polly. I later learned that these supposed “imaginary friends” were actually spirit guides.
As a young child, I was very religious. I grew up in the Christian faith, attending a Baptist church where I often performed with the choir. I always felt very close to God and thought of God as a beloved friend and confidant.
A Deep Sorrow and a Gift Discovered
My beloved Aunt Irene, who was like a second mother to me, passed away after a brief battle with Leukemia when I was just six years old.
As my family, especially my mother, struggled to cope with their grief at her sudden loss, I began communicating with her spirit telepathically. Often times while sitting in class, I would feel her sitting or standing next to me, or hear her voice in my mind, or sometimes, in my ear. At times I was rather freaked out by these communications, and eventually I stopped sensing her presence. It would be years later before I would understand the significance of her messages.
Profound Fear, Profound Transformation
By the time I was a teenager my childhood fantasies had faded and I was far more interested in popular music, teen crushes, and hanging out with my friends, than I was in enchanting castles. At thirteen, I began experiencing profound and frightening anxiety attacks. It took many months before I was diagnosed. After my diagnosis, I began seeing a counselor, learned self-hypnosis, and tried to go on with my life. But my anxiety worsened I eventually slid into a suicidal state of being. One night as I lay awake formulating a plan to take my own life, my beloved Aunt Irene appeared in my bedroom. I could see and hear her very clearly, and the intensity of the experience shook me to the very core of my being. She told me that I should press onward, that God had a tremendous purpose for my life, and that I should never fear.
Speechless and stunned by the sheer magnitude of this experience, I began to weep uncontrollably. But I was soon shocked out of my tears when a radiant light illuminated the entire room. Suddenly my bed was completely surrounded by dozens of unbelievably beautiful beings, who I inexplicably knew to be angels. They gifted me with such profound comfort and love in the following moments that I simply cannot describe it in words. As I basked in their amazing presence, they began to sing, music the likes of which I have never been privileged to hear before or since. I was filled with a tremendous sense of peace, and I surrendered deeply to the unimaginable glory of the experience.
Traveling my Path
After that night’s events, I slowly began putting my life back together, and it wasn’t too long before things were, for the most part, back to normal. But one thing had definitely changed; I was now once again very in touch with God, and I was in touch with myself as a Spiritual Being.
Then, three years later on a September evening in my 16th year, a dear friend who later became a spiritual mentor, helped facilitate my connection with my primary spirit guide. It was an experience which I simply can’t express in writing. It was truly glorious and profound, and it opened up my life and spiritual awareness in more ways than I could imagine.
Not long after this experience, I began to immerse myself in the study of many different spiritual traditions and religious faiths, and as a result, my mind and heart were opened to many wonderful ways of worshiping my beloved Creator!
Over the years, I have come to fully embrace my connection with Father-Mother God, the deep knowledge that we are all children of God, and my own singular spiritual path. I have also learned a tremendous amount about myself both personally and spiritually. I strive daily to be the best person I can be and to serve Father-Mother God to the very best of my ability, and with my whole heart and soul. I continue to joyfully embrace many spiritual traditions, including Buddhism, the practice of Hindi chanting, the wise woman tradition, Paganism, and Native American spiritual practices, among others. In addition, I continue to cherish my deeply fulfilling and beautiful partnership with Jesus Christ. Today, I incorporate many different customs, ideas and tenants from various faiths and traditions, into my own unique spiritual path, which I walk with deep serenity and joy.
Professional Achievements
I hold Bachelor of Arts degrees in Music with a concentration in voice, and Psychology. I gained my certification as a Spiritual Healing Practitioner through the International Awareness Academy, which is founded and directed by renowned spiritual teacher Melinda Rodriguez. Melinda is truly wonderful, and was a tremendous catalyst in helping me to gain the confidence and skill-set which allow me to serve to the best of my ability. I am blessed and honored to know her.

In March of 2008, I met…well, rediscovered would be a more apt description…Kelly Hudson, and it was immediately apparent to both of us that we had a very strong bond and connection that had bridged many lifetimes. Referring to us as kindred souls would be a vast understatement. We quickly became ‘reacquainted’ and not only became fast friends, but also business partners. By April of 2008, our new company, Empowerment Sanctuary, was born.
Empowerment Sanctuary is dedicated to educating, informing and inspiring seekers about various spiritual and metaphysical topics. Our goal is to provide tools, techniques and processes that will assist you in discovering and cultivating your own personal empowerment, so that you can lead a life that brings you abundant fulfillment and joy.
On the Personal Side
I feel richly blessed to live in the picturesque mountains of Western North Carolina. Being in a rural area, I am forever delighted by the beauty of nature and the world which Mother-Father God has created. I am an avid bookworm and music junkie, love chocolate, Chinese food, stimulating conversation, history, comparative religion, philosophy, and all things Celtic, as I am primarily of Scottish and Irish descent. I am thrilled and honored to be traveling my personal and spiritual path, and am always delighted to share with, and learn from, my clients and students as well. I am tremendously blessed, and I express my boundless gratitude to God on a daily, often hourly, basis.
